Motor Neurone Disease

2003

After struggling with mobility and having seen various chiropractors, physiotherapists and other doctors, Becky was finally diagnosed as having Motor Neurone Disease by the specialists at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford in March 2003. The trauma was devastating to all of the family but Becky remained upbeat and resilient to the last. Eventually, when she just didn't have the muscle power to draw breath, she passed away very peacefully in her own bed in her own house on September 4th 2003. Two weeks later the traffic in the High Street in Tring was stopped whilst the funeral cortege drove past and that huge church in the centre of Tring was full to the rafters with well-wishers for the passing away of a much loved and respected pillar of the community.
